Hello ASA friends and Family,

Boats are being hauled from the water and the summer sailing clothing is being put away as the sailing season dwindles down to a few more days. In the regions where sailing thrives all year long ASA schools are ready to welcome you. Have you considered taking an “off season” course in a warm-weather region? Your part of the country might still be under Covid-19 restrictions but, as they ease, don’t forget that you can still attain your sailing goals for 2020 by finding a school elsewhere in the country. California, Florida, and some schools in Texas are available to help you extend your sailing season. The Caribbean is slowly opening and ASA schools in the Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, US Virgin Islands, and the Grenadines will soon be welcoming guests. It has been a long journey through 2020 and the pandemic but we are hearing positive news from so many members of the ASA family.

Stay strong and stay safe.

HANDS ACROSS THE SEA

Today, Hands Across the Sea is in its 14th year and they continue to garner support for a program that is far-reaching and has no limits in terms of lives touched, “You won’t know the full impact,” co-founder Harriet Linskey said, “You’ll never know all the stories of success.” Harriet shares stories of a bank teller, a future astronaut, and of readers and dreamers that all share the same experiences of having their world opened up with books – books that would never have been in their hands had it not been for Hands Across The Sea.

BVI

December 1st, 2020, the British Virgin Islands are set to reopen to welcome tourists, visitors, and cruisers. The archipelago has been close to visitors since early in the COVID-19 pandemic. While their cases were relatively low, they were under quarantine or curfew to help stop the virus’ spread.

Is Sailing Stressful?
IS SAILING STRESSFUL?
The daysail is a common activity for every sailor. Whether you are headed to your own boat, part of a sailing club, or have a generous friend who allows you to tag along there are general stress factors that contribute to your planning process.

Would You Survive?
WOULD YOU SURVIVE?
If you have a passion for sailing, you seek out sailing movies. If you are anything like the rest of us sailors, you most likely hold the belief that your experience, sailing education and grit could help you solve the problems and battle the elements in any situation.
