Comment on North U’s Women’s Performance Racing Week by Anne Borland https://asa.com/news/2023/03/02/womens-performance-racing/#comment-7340 Thu, 30 Mar 2023 04:09:22 +0000 https://asa.com/?p=59013#comment-7340 I’m starting a women’s sail club in our sail school this season and it will focus on how to sail and introduce some racing concepts. We have only 5 sessions that are 4 hours long. We will be on a J24.
Any suggestions for women sail focus groups from other women sailors out there? I teach the Basic Keelboat lessons on a reservoir out of Eugene, OR.
What experiences did you enjoy or can share? Not just racing.
My sailing school has had only male staff for the past 15 plus years, besides me, and I am trying to bring other adult females into the teaching realm.
Thanks,
Anne

Comment on Do I Really Need Sailing Lessons? by Bryan https://asa.com/news/2022/12/19/sailing-lessons/#comment-7338 Thu, 16 Mar 2023 04:25:28 +0000 http://www.asa.com/social_media/?p=3863#comment-7338 I think you have to put everything in perspective. In my opinion, sailing is very accessible and American Sailing is helping to standardize course material like what PADI did for scuba diving. As a private pilot, who has been a PADI Divemaster in the past, learning to sail is significantly cheaper than learning to fly and on par with scuba diving.

AIWA has successfully advocated for the waterway for over 20 years, ensuring Congress and the Army Corps continue to fund this vital marine highway Website
