Delta Sailing School offers classes and club membership in the beautiful, laid back, natural environment of the spectacular California Delta. With over 1,000 miles of waterway, we have lots of space for sailing and enjoying this peaceful gem that not too many people have discovered yet. We are convenient to Sacramento, the Foothills, the Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area. Learn to sail in steady winds and warm temperatures. Our instructors are enthusiastic and supportive, professional, experienced and fun. They love to teach sailing, and it shows! Our Basic Keelboat Class is limited to four students giving each person plenty of time to learn sailing skills including steering, tacking and jibing, trimming the sails, operating the outboard engine, reefing the sails when the wind picks up, docking the boat and more. All of our on-the-water and classroom classes are small so that each student gets a lot of support and personal attention.
Delta Sailing School offers these special classes:
– Competent Crew Class for those who would like to learn to feel comfortable aboard a sailboat, be able to help the skipper sail the boat, and know what to do in case of an emergency
– Rigging Class where students learn to tune a sailboat’s standing rigging, for sailboat owners and non-owners who want to enhance their sailing maintenance skills
– Anchoring Class where students learn the art of anchoring and have the confidence that the anchor will hold and keep the boat safe, whether it’s for an hour or for overnight
_ Catalina Charter Experience for those who want to have a fun bareboat chartering vacation with the benefit of a Delta Sailing School instructor aboard. This gives students the opportunity to hone the skills they have learned in Bareboat Cruising class. Partners and families welcome!
