City Island Yacht Club (CIYC) is a unique and vibrant sailing community located in the heart of City Island, New York. CIYC is proud to offer a variety of programs and services that cater to sailors of all levels, making it a top destination for sailing enthusiasts in the region.

CIYC is also renowned for its comprehensive sailing education programs. The Club is an American Sailing Association (ASA) certified training facility, offering a range of courses and certifications for sailors of all levels. From basic sailing and navigation courses to advanced racing and cruising certifications, CIYC’s ASA-certified instructors provide the highest quality training available.

Learn to skipper a 20' - 27' sloop-rigged keelboat by day, in light to moderate winds and sea conditions. Learn basic sailing terminology, parts and functions, helm commands, basic sail trim, points of sail, buoyage, seamanship and safety including basic navigation rules to avoid collisions and hazards.

Learn to skipper a sloop-rigged auxiliary powered 25'-35' keelboat by day in moderate winds and sea conditions. Learn cruising sailboat terminology, basic boat systems, auxiliary engine operation, docking procedures, intermediate sail trim, navigation rules, basic coastal navigation, anchoring, weather, safety and seamanship.

ASA 118, Docking Endorsement
