Sailing the Hudson River with Griffin Sailing School (GSS) is time well spent. We offer training in inland, coastal, and offshore sailing, providing a broad range of sailing knowledge to our graduates. We are proud to be an American Sailing Association affiliated school. Under strict ASA guidance, we provide the highest level of sailing education available by offering semi-private sailing instruction, with a student-to-instructor ratio of 3:1 that’s the best in the industry. Our highly experienced and certified by ASA and USCG instructors love to share their vast sailing knowledge. Whether you’re a beginner or a “salty” sailor, a cruiser or a racer, you’ll learn to sail comfortably and safely. We guarantee you’ll benefit from both the lectures and on-the-water training. GSS Courses don’t just teach you to sail. We are creating well-rounded sailors and building sailing relationship with our students for years to come. Top results and student satisfaction are our primary goals. We will not sacrifice quality for quantity! We adjust our teaching methods to every student’s sailing needs, and that’s the key to our success. Instead of producing certificate holders; we help to create skilled sailors!

We are a true sailing school!

Our three-day courses are ASA 101, Basic Keelboat Sailing and ASA 103, Basic Coastal Cruising. We offer them May 1 – October 15, either Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday or Friday-Saturday-Sunday, at our Connelly, NY location. Overnight stays are available – contact us for more info. If your schedule does not permit a three-day block, we’ll try to fit these courses into your schedule. ASA 104, Bareboat Cruising is a four day/3 night live-aboard sailing trip. Other courses can be arranged on an individual basis according to student preferences. Please, check our website page Courses for more info and options.

At Griffin Sailing School, we’re happy to customize any of our services to fit the sailing preferences of individuals or groups. Let us know your needs, and we’ll make it happen. Sailing life occasionally is stormy; we can help you prepare for any number of situations; good, bad, or ugly. We’ve been there; we’ve done that, and we’ve learned it all to share with you.

Light rain or showers will not stop us from sailing, so be prepared for rainy conditions, and have spare clothing and storm gear ready.

Whatever you choose, you will have a great time, and you will be getting the best help available. Start your sailing adventure at our New York classroom and sail Hudson River; you’ll be in good hands and on the way to becoming a competent sailor!
