Since 1993 Liberty Sailing School of Philadelphia has introduced thousands to the joy of sailing. You will learn to sail with confidence on the historic Delaware River Water front in Center City Philadelphia. Our boats are located at the Philadelphia Marine Center next to the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and the class room is located one block away at the Liberty Sailing Club facility. There are great restaurants and hotels nearby.
Our courses are designed to offer students maximum time on the water.
Our Instructors are United States Coast Guard Licensed Captains and certified by the
American Sailing Association. All share a commitment to make sure you have a rewarding experience.
Owned and operated by Captain Steven E. Mink, US Coast Guard Licensed Master, All Oceans, with over 40 years of experience and hundreds of offshore miles. Licensed since 1985 and a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary since 1980. Former Flotilla Commander with Auxop and past Coxswain qualifications. I started sailing on the Shrewsbury River and Barnegat Bay on the New Jersey Coast. My love for sailing has never waned.
Our courses run for beginners to advance with an early spring Caribbean ASA 104/114, bareboat / cruising catamaran course, which is a wonderful vacation and learning experience. Off season, in the fall and spring we run ASA 105, a five week hands on coastal navigation course taught in our classroom at 303 N. Front St, Philadelphia.
The PA Safe Boating Course is included in our ASA 101 Course. Pennsylvania residents that hold a PA Safe Boating Certificate are covered under the mandatory requirement that everyone must have a safe boating certificate in order to operate any type of boat with a motor in New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and other surrounding states as long as they do not reside in the state for more than 90 days.
