You deserve a sailing vacation where you are attended to and get the best expertise. At our school, you get to explore one of the best sailing grounds in the world: the Caribbean. Your journey will specifically focus on the beauty and diversity in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands (USVI and BVI).

Charter House is the accredited school that oversees all the charter yachts, captains, and crew. These yacht charters are offered through our local company iYachtClub (a DBA of Charter House). Because we are locals, we draft an itinerary, based on your interests, that highlights the locations you’ll want see and activities you’ll want to do.

You deserve to feel confident about your instructor’s knowledge and benefit from our entire staff’s experiences, as we are locals that live and breathe the Caribbean! We will consult you about unique locations, activities, and the area that no one other than a local could provide.

Being based out of St. Thomas, flying to the Caribbean for your sailing charter with iYachtClub is made easy! St. Thomas has the largest and most accessible international airport in the area, and is only about a half hour away from our location.

Your instructor, Captain Steve, is a sailing student’s dream teacher! He approaches sailing in a laid-back style, and ensures your charter adventure is stress-free while letting you learn the ropes hands-on.

Captain Steve has provided instruction to individuals for over 10 years! His catamaran, Mari’s Leonardo, is a luxury catamaran perfect for sailing. His passion is sharing in insight into the beauty and freedom of sailing.

Steve also believes that your needs are of the utmost importance. His extensive experience in sailing and the service industry will make you feel attended to and instructed at the highest quality.

At iYachtClub, we also offer additional activities such as: snorkeling, scuba diving, tarpon fishing, swimming, and onshore exploration. You will sail to locations that have the activities you want. Our local expertise gives an advantage in catering these locations to your unique desires and personality. If you check out our previous guests’ reviews, you will find that we excel in customizing trips for various scenarios.

You can take courses ranging from beginner to advanced. These courses start at ASA 101 level, where you would learn the basic terminology while sailing during the day with light winds. We offer more advanced certifications, where you will spend a week advancing from the basic ASA 101 certification, to advanced sailing where you learn to sail in winds that are up to 30 knots during sea conditions.

With the variety in sailing certifications, your vacation can range from a calmer journey to a more realistic sailing experience all depending on what you are comfortable with. This variety allows you to gain confidence, experience, and knowledge all at your own pace.

ASA 101, Keelboat 1
ASA 101, Keelboat 1
Learn to skipper a 20' - 27' sloop-rigged keelboat by day, in light to moderate winds and sea conditions. Learn basic sailing terminology, parts and functions, helm commands, basic sail trim, points of sail, buoyage, seamanship and safety including basic navigation rules to avoid collisions and hazards.
ASA 103, Basic Coastal Cruising
ASA 103, Basic Coastal Cruising
Learn to skipper a sloop-rigged auxiliary powered 25'-35' keelboat by day in moderate winds and sea conditions. Learn cruising sailboat terminology, basic boat systems, auxiliary engine operation, docking procedures, intermediate sail trim, navigation rules, basic coastal navigation, anchoring, weather, safety and seamanship.
ASA 104, Bareboat Cruising
ASA 104, Bareboat Cruising
Learn how to sail a sloop-rigged, auxiliary powered 30'-45' sailboat during a multi-day cruise upon inland/coastal waters in moderate/heavy winds and sea conditions. Learn about provisioning, boat systems, auxiliary engines, advanced sail trim, coastal navigation, anchoring / mooring, docking, emergency operations, weather, and more.
ASA 114, Cruising Catamaran
ASA 114, Cruising Catamaran
Learn to skipper an auxiliary-powered sailing cruising catamaran of approximately 30-45' feet in length during a multi-day liveaboard cruise upon inland or coastal waters in moderate to heavy winds (up to 30 knots) and sea conditions.
