From beginner to advanced sailing, SailTime Door County has the class you need to achieve your sailing goals. With locations in southern Door County and northern Brown County, Wisconsin, SailTime Door County has access to the waters of Green Bay. Green Bay is relatively calm, creating a comfortable sail for students as they learn.  

Convenient Northeast Wis. locations 

Convenient to Green Bay, Kewaunee County and Door County residents, classes are easily accessible to students living in Northeast Wisconsin. Classes are offered on various days and at various times to accommodate students’ schedules.  

Comfortable, stable sailboats 

The sailing classes take place on several sailboats, including a new-model, luxurious 35-foot Beneteau Oceanis sailboat docked at Wave Pointe Marina & Resort3600 County CC, Sturgeon Bay. The premier yacht offers surprising comfort and stability, contributing to an exceptional learn-to-sail experience. A smaller Oday sailboat, perfect for beginners to practice their skills, is docked at Windjammers Sailing Club, 4009 Channel Road, Suamico. 

Professional, personable instructor 

Instructor Bill Wons is professional and personable. He has been sailing for years and truly enjoys introducing students to the joy of sailing and the amazing sensation of wind propelling a boat. He creates the ultimate class experience by making sure everyone is safe, learning to sail, and having fun. For personalized sailing instruction, SailTime Door County maintains small class sizes of four to five students. Each student has ample opportunity to practice new skills, interact with the instructor, and ask questions. Additionally, each student receives valuable time on the helm. 

Basic to advanced classes 

Sailing courses are geared for adults interested in learning to sail or improving their sailing skills. Novice sailors enrolled in ASA 101 learn to safely skipper a sailboat. During the interactive course, students learn sailing terminology, seamanship, helm commands, and basic navigation. Experienced sailors enrolled in ASA-approved sailing courses 103, 104 and 105 learn advanced sailing techniques.

Learn basic sailing terminology, parts and functions, helm commands, basic sail trim, points of sail, buoyage, seamanship and safety including basic navigation rules to avoid collisions and hazards.

Learn to skipper a sloop-rigged auxiliary powered 25'-35' keelboat by day in moderate winds and sea conditions. Learn cruising sailboat terminology, basic boat systems, auxiliary engine operation, docking procedures, intermediate sail trim, navigation rules, basic coastal navigation, anchoring, weather, safety and seamanship.

Learn how to sail a sloop-rigged, auxiliary powered 30'-45' sailboat during a multi-day cruise upon inland/coastal waters in moderate/heavy winds and sea conditions.
