Welcome to Bayfield Sailing Academy, where the love for sailing meets exceptional instruction and unique experiences. Our home port is nestled in Harbour Lights Marina in Bayfield, Ontario. As you set sail with us, get ready to embrace the charm of our small sailing school and the unparalleled beauty of the surrounding waters.
When it comes to sailing conditions, we’re fortunate to be situated in a section of Lake Huron known for its typical 3-4 foot chop and steady winds ranging from 8 to 15 knots. These conditions provide an ideal learning environment for both beginners and seasoned sailors.
Our sailing school prides itself on its intimate setting and personalized approach. With a team of one dedicated instructor, we offer a unique experience that sets us apart from larger institutions. Our instructor’s journey in sailing began as a self-taught sailor, honing his skills for three seasons. Seeking to enhance his knowledge, he embarked on a transformative voyage to the British Virgin Islands in 2017, where he completed his ASA 101, 103, and 104 certifications.
As he further explored the world of sailing through extensive adventures in Florida and the Bahamas, he continued to expand his expertise, obtaining ASA 201, 203, and 204 certifications on the waters of Lake Ontario in 2022. With a deep passion for sailing, our instructor brings a wealth of practical knowledge and real-world experience to every lesson.
Bayfield Sailing Academy takes pride in being a small and personalized school. Our intimate class sizes ensure that each student receives individual attention and tailored instruction, making your learning experience truly exceptional. The stunning location of our school amidst the tranquil waters of Lake Huron adds to our uniqueness, offering an idyllic backdrop for your sailing adventures.
Our ASA lessons take place on two distinct vessels: the classic 1984 Bayfield 32-C Cutter Rigged Cruiser, perfect for serene cruises, and the agile 1983 TANZER 7.5 Fin Keel Sloop, designed to offer an immersive and dynamic sailing experience. Boat selection will be determined by a range of factors, including weather conditions and your level of experience, at the sole discretion of Bayfield Sailing Academy. Whether you’re drawn to the tranquility of cruising or the excitement of hands-on maneuvers, our fleet ensures a well-rounded learning adventure.
Let us put the wind in your sails while the waters inspire you at Bayfield Sailing Academy.
