FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions

How much Sailing experience do I need to join the Club?

NONE. Experience is appreciated and most of our current members are experienced sailors. However, ALL levels...from complete novice to seasoned skipper...are welcome in our club. We just ask that you be eager to learn and participate, and be willing to take direction on a trip. On a boat, the Skipper is always right.

We also coordinate several Non-Sailing Social Events throughout the year for our members to enjoy.

These include parties, casino nights, social get togethers for various events (sports, museums, plays, etc), weekend excursions/ touring (Napa Valley wine tasting, Rocky Point), outdoor activities (camping, hiking, etc), and other get chances to socialize. So, even if you are not the top sailor, our club has plenty to offer to you.

Where does your club go sailing?

•  Local:   We sail locally most often at Lake Pleasant, due to its near proximity to Phoenix. We also enjoy local weekend sails and camping trips at Roosevelt Lake and Bartlett Lake, and sometimes Lake Havasu.

•  National:   We arrange charters for club members approximately 6-times per year to the San Diego / Catalina Islands area, as well as San Francisco and other areas of the California coast and into Mexico. Occassional trips are also planned along the East Coast, such as Nantucket.

•  International:   We coordinate international charters for club members a few times per year. Trips have included the Greek Isles, French Riveria, Tahiti, Croatia, Caribbean Isles, and more.

- See our About Us page for a more complete list, and our Events page for details on upcoming trips. Photos of past trips and events can be seen on our Past Events page.

Do I have to be a member to attend a trip or event?

NO, Guests (non-members) may attend as follows:

•  Meetings - Guests are welcome at our general meetings, to learn more about our club and our members.

•  Social Activities - Guests are welcome at most of our social outings, unless otherwise noted on our calendar. However, there may be an added $5.00 non-member fee for some events.

•  Sailing Trips & Weekend Excursions - Guests may purchase an 'Event Pass' for $15.00 to attend a single trip.

•  Blue Water Charters - Full Membership is required for out-of-town sailing events.

    How much does membership cost?
