We are located in some of the best sailing/cruising waters on the Great Lakes. In Traverse City, we have access to countless coves, beaches, islands, harbor towns and picturesque marinas to visit during a course or a charter. We have a fleet of 25 charter boats between 31′ and 45′. After you graduate from our award winning ASA school, we will confidently send you and your crew out on one of them!

We offer small classes focused on teaching you to sail. Our Captains are Trained and licensed by the US. Coast Guard and certified by ASA. They are focused on quality training. Our fleet of boats are the type of boats you would cruise in. The boats are well maintained clean and Coast Guard inspected certified and insured for Charter. Halcyon Sailing – Lake St. Clair offers introductory sailing and advanced cruising lessons. We are conveniently located at Jefferson Beach Marina – the premier marina in the area. This location offers a protected area with easy access to vast, freshwater sailing venues of Detroit and Canada.

Lake St. Clair Sailing School gives sailors of all experience levels an opportunity to become more competent and confident in their abilities. If you choose to venture beyond the sailing basics, we’ll expand your horizons by teaching you to navigate with electronics and with the stars. Become certified at advanced or offshore levels, and the world’s oceans will become your highways and by-ways. You can learn it all or select the things that interest you the most.

Located in the summer vacation resort village of Port Sanilac, we can certify you and prepare you for your next sailing adventure. Capt’n John Diel has over 40 years of sailing experience and almost 100,000 miles of sailing logged. He has sailed and trained many for family adventures and for long distance blue water passage making. He is a “Salty Dog” – a title given by ARC to those who have sailed many miles and ocean passages.
