Each course is carefully designed to develop and build upon sailing skills and theory, and each flows progressively through the ASA standards. We keep our class size small – just 2 – 4 students – to ensure each student receives plenty of personal attention, quality experience and valuable time on the helm. Our courses include Introductory and Basic Keelboat, all levels of Cruising, Catamaran, Docking, Navigation and Weather.

Our racing and cruising and chartering experience enables us to target the training to our student’s particular requirements. We truly love our jobs, but we take our sailing seriously so you will be safe on the water.

Best Instructors
Our four professional Instructors are boat owners who have been sailing most of their adult lives. They have a passion for sailing and love to share it. They have won more awards than any other East Coast sailing school, including ASA Outstanding Instructor from 2007 through 2013. All our Instructors are US Coast Guard licensed Captains and ASA-certified Instructors. Our in-house Instructor Evaluator provides regular continuation training for our instructors, keeping them abreast of new techniques and requirements. This ensures that we teach consistently and adapt to your individual learning styles. Additionally, our Instructors are published authors of many technical sailing articles. They are recognized as contributors to the ASA 103 Basic Coastal Cruising textbook, and ASA selected Sail Solomons as the primary writers for the ASA 104 Bareboat Cruising textbook.

Best Training Boats
Immaculately maintained, our fleet of four Catalina basic training keelboats are easy to control and a pleasure to sail. Our larger Beneteau and Jeanneau cruising boats are fully equipped with the latest gear, providing the perfect platform for a multi-day liveaboard course.

Best Charter Boats
Our modern, well-maintained fleet is available for either daily rental or for longer charters. We work hard to ensure that everything is ready for your enjoyment, and offer personalized service.

Our Sailing Club is one the most convenient, fun and affordable programs to be found on the Chesapeake Bay. Many of our sailing club members continue the fun on our winter Caribbean flotillas!
